Bellville Medical Center COVID 19 Update

As COVID 19 picks up momentum and we are seeing a dramatic increase in cases across the country and across the state, Bellville Medical Center would like to provide an update to our community.

BMC currently has the ability to test and care for patients experiencing symptoms.  Our Emergency Department medical staff is available by phone to provide advice and direction.  The BMC Emergency Department phone number is (979) 413-7175We encourage everyone to STAY HOME and CALL if they are exhibiting flu-like symptoms for their own protection as well as the protection of others.

Our Visitors Policy has changed to better manage the exposure to COVID 19 for all.  As of Monday, March 23, 2020, all staff and visitors will enter through the ER entrance. Everyone will be screened and have their temperature taken prior to entering the building. BMC is allowing visitors over the age of 18 per patient situation only.  If you are experiencing any symptoms (cough, fever, respiratory distress), we ask that you stay home and take care of yourself.

To arrive for clinic appointments, BMC asks that you enter through the middle doors to be screened and have your temperature taken.  Anyone with symptoms will be given a mask.  All patients entering will be escorted to their appointment.

The Emergency Department is instituting a “NO visitors in ED rooms” policy, patients only in the ED rooms at this time. Families may give staff their cell phone number and wait in their cars.

All non-essential BMC personnel have been instructed to work from home.  We are very grateful for our clinical staff who continue to work under these new circumstances.

We will keep the public informed as the situation changes. Bellville is fortunate to have a local hospital who is ready and able to handle this medical crisis at this point in our nation’s history. For the safety of our community, family, friends and health professionals, please stay home, keep your distance, practice handwashing and disinfecting frequently.  It will take all of us-thank you for doing your part.
