Job Description


The Director of Patient Care service is charged with providing executive-level supervision and leadership for programs devoted to the welfare of patients, staff and the community. Both administrative and nursing skills are necessary to ensure the maintenance and provision of services is efficient, affordable and within established budget. Reports to Chief Executive Officer.

Participates as a member of the hospital’s management team in planning, policy formulations and administrative decision making.  Participates and maintains performance improvement activities to assure the highest standards of care delivered to patients at Bellville Medical Center.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Supervising and reviewing nursing staff
  • Oversees budget preparation for department
  • Works with Chief Financial Officer to monitor department and make financial performance recommendations.
  • Participates as a member of the hospital’s management team


  • This includes establishing protocols for staff for providing services, answering questions from family members and ensuring that patients are receiving adequate assistance.
  • The hiring and training of staff
  • Responsible for being a positive example and champion for all aspects of Bellville Medical Center
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with all of our customers – our patients, our physicians, our staff and community leaders.
  • Supervises and develops leaders in the departments supervised.
  • Continuously actively markets the hospital within the community and with the Board of Directors
  • Responsible for staying abreast of all relevant medical guidelines, regulations and laws and to ensure that managed services and facilities are in compliance.
  • Ensuring that all aspects of service are within quality standards.
  • Control and management of a budget
  • Analyzes department to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Works with the CEO to coordinate planning and establish priorities for future growth and opportunities for expansion.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Proficient in EMR database application systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • BSN with MBA (preferred)
  • Licensed Registered Nurse in Texas.
  • Five years nursing experience with demonstrated leadership qualities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.

Conditions of Employment

  • May be required to submit to annual TB
  • BMC will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
