Summary

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CFO at this rural, community hospital will provide financial and administrative direction in collaboration with a tenured and high performing Executive Leadership Team. The CFO is integral and vital to the success of the hospital, particularly with anticipated growth and performance improvements.  CFO must have critical thinking and analytical skills and understanding of regulatory and accounting standards.  Must uphold the integrity of the facility’s data submission, accounting processes, healthcare and financial reporting and compliance.  The CFO must have an in-depth understanding of healthcare, accounting functions and revenue cycle functions, along with the ability to work with a team to analyze and interpret data and ensure that they meet the high standards of the hospital.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the following functions and departments: Accounting, Revenue Cycle, Supply Chain, IT, budget preparation, audit, revenue cycle, IT and Materials functions.
  • Works with department heads to monitor hospital and department performance and make improvement recommendations.
  • Member of the Senior Leadership Team along with the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Nursing Officer.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for being a positive example and champion for all aspects of Bellville Medical Center
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills with all customers –patients, physicians, staff and community leaders.
  • Continuously markets the hospital with the Board of Directors and within the community
  • Investigates and resolves customer service issues related to billing, admissions and collections.
  • Supervises and develops leaders in departments supervised.
  • Serves as liaison and resource for Department managers, Administration and CEO concerning financials issues.
  • Establishes financial processes and improves related processes.
  • Directs accounting close preparation of all financial statements, board reports, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
  • Must keep abreast of changes in Medicare, state, and federal regulations.
  • Improves processes and outcomes, through experience and expertise in supervised departments.
  • Analyzes operations to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Works with the CEO to coordinate strategic planning and establish priorities for future growth, opportunities for expansion and strategic partnerships.
  • Must provide a strategic and operational vision for excellence for hospital financial services and depth.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
  • Excellent accounting, financial reporting, analytical and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in database and accounting computer application systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance preferred.
  • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
  • Must have financial leadership in a healthcare organization
  • Eight to ten years of experience in financial management required.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.

Conditions of Employment

  • May be required to submit to annual TB
  • BMC will provide Hepatitis vaccination; candidate may decline vaccination through declination form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment medical history assessment

  • Must be able to pass background check
  • Must be able to pass drug screen
  • Must be able to provide authorization to work for any US employer
  • Must be able to speak and understand English (English / Spanish bilingual preferred)
  • Ability to work independently
