Quality Healthcare, Close to Home

Bellville Medical Center was created to be a locally owned and operated medical center and opened for business May 7, 2019 after parting ways with a corporate tenant. The Bellville Hospital District Board secured global healthcare consultant TRG, based out of Austin County, to assess the District’s position and viability. They identified ERH Healthcare as an optional management company with breadth and depth of experience in struggling rural hospitals. The Bellville Hospital District voted to continue healthcare in Bellville and Austin County. They further ensured that the Emergency Department’s Level 4 Trauma designation and Level 3 Stroke designation would be transitioned without a lapse in service.

The Hospital District Board, TRG and ERH worked together to transition the hospital operations from CHI to the District Board in only sixty days. With the unwavering and complete support of the community, the leaders took a vision forward. It should be noted that the transition and operations would not have been possible without the financial support of the Bellville Hospital Foundation and Auxiliary, Bellville EDC, local banks and private donations.  Along with this support, the County and City of Bellville leadership, as well as the Austin County EMS, backed the transition efforts at a remarkable level. Supporters all recognized what the loss of local healthcare would mean to the community, in terms of local medical care and the detrimental economic impact to the county.

With the vision of not only returning the hospital to functioning as it did previously, but also expanding services to include additional primary care physicians as well as adding to current specialists, the hospital has become a true medical center with a variety of services. With the support of the Foundation, Bellville Medical Center will offer the only 3D mammogram outside of Katy or Bryan. Adding an oncologist and a surgeon who performs breast surgery to the staff offers much of the care locally for the convenience of women in Austin and surrounding counties.
