Bellville Medical Center is home to the only hospital in Austin County. Established in 1928 as a result of the oil boom in nearby Raccoon Bend, the original 4-bed hospital has evolved into a licensed 32-bed acute care hospital that has recently returned to a locally operated independent hospital and professional building. The campus is located approximately four blocks from the historic courthouse square of downtown Bellville and encompasses approximately 4.197 acres of land. It is owned and operated by the Bellville Hospital District and managed by ERH Healthcare.
Bellville Medical Center offers convenient, close-to-home in-patient care and out-patient services, outpatient surgical services and complete imaging and laboratory services. The hospital also offers skilled nursing care, observation beds, swing beds, physical therapy, occupational and speech therapy. The physician-staffed Emergency Department is a Level IV Trauma Center and a Level III Stroke Center. A helipad is located near the ER entrance for the purpose of air transport, if needed. The family of caregivers at Bellville Medical Center is proud to have served Bellville and surrounding communities for decades and generations.
The hospital is accredited by DNV and certified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (Medicare) and participates in the Medicaid program.
Adjoining the hospital is a 30,000 square foot medical and professional building that includes physician offices, a retail pharmacy and the hospital’s physical therapy department. Built to accommodate a growing medical staff including specialists who serve the area, lease space is available for additional physicians and patient services. There is ample convenient surface parking for both hospital and medical clinic patients and visitors.
In addition to efforts by the Bellville Hospital District Board, the taxing governmental body of elected directors, the Bellville Hospital Foundation and the Bellville Hospital Auxiliary work tirelessly to raise charitable funds for the local hospital. The New-2-U Resale Shop has been awarded state-wide recognition by the Texas Association of Hospital Volunteers (TAHV) for its fundraising accomplishments. The Bellville Hospital Foundation is well-known for generating significant funds for equipment and fixtures for the hospital through its dedication and ongoing fundraising efforts. These organizations, in addition to the medical offices, staff and employees are proud to be the Bellville Medical Center family and welcome you to the family for your health care needs.
